A woman from Croxley was jailed after giving false information and lying about her qualifications when applying for a job as a senior nurse.
Tanya Nasir, 45, was found guilty of nine charges, including fraud, using a false instrument with intent, possession of articles for use in fraud, and securing unauthorised access to computer material with intent.
On Thursday, October 17, she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
Nasir’s deception began in 2010, when she failed to disclose a conviction while studying at Buckinghamshire New University.
Between February 2013 and September 2019, Nasir worked as a nurse at Hillingdon Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
In July 2019, Nasir provided a reference containing lies and fabrications on behalf of another woman to help her also gain employment within the NHS.
In September 2019, Nasir was employed as ward manager on the Neonatal Ward of the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.
Nasir was suspended from her post in February 2020 after her line manager found inconsistencies in her references. She was arrested in April 2021.
Three of the four universities Nasir claimed to have obtained qualifications from confirmed she had never attended, and the fourth confirmed she did attend but was not awarded one of the qualifications stated on her application.
Many previous employers disclosed that Nasir either had not been employed in the role she claimed to or had never been employed by them.
In all three applications, Nasir claimed she worked in the military and had been shot twice while overseas. An investigation found she had never been in the army or army reserves.
Gayle Ramsay, Specialist Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service, said: “She went to incredible lengths to manipulate her way into positions that demand integrity and honesty, yet showed none. Not only did she betray the trust of her employers and colleagues, but her actions put the lives of vulnerable patients at significant risk.”
