HOLY HELP: Good Samaritan aids much-loved vicar in getting to Chorleywood event on time

A much-loved celebrity vicar was aided by a Good Samaritan after getting lost in Chorleywood on his way to a talk about his new book.

The Reverend Richard Coles, known for his appearances on TV and radio and his former role as a member of 80s pop group The Communards, visited the village on Monday, June 10, to discuss his new cosy crime novel, Murder at the Monastery.

However, upon arriving from the Tube station, the Reverend had no idea how to get to Chorleywood Memorial Hall, where he was due to speak to assembled guests. He explained that though he had visited before, he was disoriented after leaving the station a different way.

Fortunately, the Reverend was rescued by the efforts of a local man, who spotted him wandering in the car park and offered to give him a lift.

Reverend Coles praised the gentleman who came to his rescue on social media, stating: “Thank you to Tom the planning barrister who saw me wandering cluelessly around the car park at Chorleywood station and kindly gave me a lift to the Memorial Hall for my Chorleywood Bookshop event!”

The event was organised by Chorleywood Bookshop, which has several similar events with other well-known authors coming up. These include evenings with chef Melissa Hemsley and former Liberal Democrat leader Sir Vince Cable.
