HELPING HAND: Amersham Town FC boosted by donation amidst cost-of-living crisis

Amersham Town FC have been given a boost after receiving a donation of more than £1,000 to help pay increasing energy costs.

The club received the £1,315 from Heart of Bucks Community Foundation as part of their Voluntary Sector Resilience Fund.

This fund is designed to assist not-for-profit groups which face unexpected and unmanageable costs arising from the current cost-of-living crisis.

Chairman Simon Damery described the fund as a “lifeline” for the club, as they expect their current costs to double this year.

He said: “We use both electricity and gas, the former particularly for floodlighting, the latter for heating. As you can imagine, the costs of floodlights alone are enormous. We try to use the lights as sparingly as possible but, over the winter months, that is difficult.

“We have various schemes in mind to reduce our ongoing costs, but this grant tides us over a very testing period. We are extremely grateful to Heart of Bucks for appreciating the challenges faced by not-for-profit organisations such as ourselves and then putting in place something to help.”
