A police pursuit of a vehicle, which is believed to have been stolen, ended when it was involved in a collision with multiple other vehicles in Hemel Hempstead.
The driver then made off from the scene on foot and a police helicopter was deployed to locate him.
Hertfordshire Police said their officers came across a vehicle at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, January 3, in Kingshill Way, Hemel Hempstead, that was suspected of being stolen in a burglary in Aston Clinton in Bucks that morning.
The vehicle failed to stop for police on Kings Road and a pursuit was authorised.
The vehicle later stopped in Cuttsfield Terrace and was involved in a collision with multiple other vehicles and a number of minor injuries were sustained.
The driver made off on foot and the helicopter then took part in the search that followed.
Police say the man, a 23 year old from Hemel Hempstead, was found and arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving in accordance with a licence and testing positive for cannabis.
A 17-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.
