Council funding enables CAS in Three Rivers to raise £1.5M

Published on: 1st August 2018   |   By: Jason Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

Three Rivers District Council provides the Citizens Advice Service (CAS) in Three Rivers with over £250,000 in funding each year.

This along with the 81 local volunteers enables CAS to offer a variety of services to the residents of the District from their offices in Rickmansworth, South Oxhey and Abbots Langley.

Last year CAS helped 7,685 local residents to resolve over 18,000 issues.

They offer drop-in advice each day of the week at their three sites.

This includes providing advice that is free, independent, confidential and impartial on a wide range of issues including wide range of issues including: debt, employment issues, divorce and separation, state benefits, consumer queries and housing problems.

They also employ specialists who provide full debt advice and court representation at possession hearings and benefit tribunals.

CAS raised £1.5 million in additional income for residents of Three Rivers in 2017/18.

This is largely made up from enabling people to access benefits they are entitled to.  CAS advisors meet with clients, work through their finances with them and fight their case to get what they are entitled to.

This money raised goes towards paying rent, utility costs as well as for food.

Councillor Chris Lloyd said: “The work that CAB do within Three Rivers is amazing: they make a real difference in people’s lives. The volume of work they do increases year on year.”
