Conservative candidate Ian Campbell has become a district councillor for Abbots Langley and Bedmond after winning the by-election on Wednesday, March 19.
Cllr Campbell was elected with 657 votes. He defeated candidates from the Liberal Democrats with 552 votes, Reform UK with 214 votes, the Green Party with 128 votes, and Labour with 91 votes.
He said: “I am honoured to be elected to represent the community I call home. My wife and I live here. We raise our kids here. The village means the world to me. I cannot thank people enough for letting me solve the problems we all face.
“I look forward to working with councillor Vicky Edwards and residents on a positive vision for our area.”
Councillor Oliver Cooper, leader of Three Rivers Conservatives, said: “I want to thank local residents for trusting the Conservative team to deliver locally – we’ve worked on delivering a clear plan since Vicky was elected, so people can trust Ian to deliver it too. Residents can feel the energy, ideas, and sense of purpose in the local Conservative team.”
The election saw a 33.6 per cent turnout of an electorate of 4,891 people.
