St Albans councillors have deferred a decision on an application to build a hotel and retail units at the city’s BHS site.
Council officers recommended the planning referrals committee refuse permission because the hotel would be too high and would mean losing retail space.
But at their meeting last month, the committee decided to defer the decision on whether to grant or refuse planning permission.
This was so members could read late representations made by applicant Reef Estates and visit sites around the city to see if the development would be too high.
Councillor Lyn Bolton, who first recommended deferral, said: “I want more information so that we have, in front of us, sufficient information for me to very easily grant this application.”
The application will be discussed again by the committee at either their next meeting on Monday, August 13 or the one after.
