Parents and teachers from Rickmansworth and Maple Cross donned their wellies and gathered their spades to join a logistics company in planting trees locally.
Staff from SAE Logistics, based in Maple Cross, Rickmansworth, were joined by parents from the new Footsteps Day Nursery and Preschool, Maple Cross and Maple Cross School PTA on Saturday, May 4, in their planting of trees with the goal of ensuring children have a beautiful outside space to enjoy for years to come.
SAE wanted to give back to the environment as well as future generations of local children by buying, supplying and planting a range of trees at the new Footsteps pre-school based at Maple Cross JMI School.
SAE managing director, Richard Bousfield, said: “It’s fantastic to be able to make a long-lasting impact in our local area. For SAE it is important we do our best to minimise our impact on the environment as well as to make a difference for our clients and our community.”
A carefully considered variety of fruit as well as ornamental trees were planted and will mature into a wonderful area that children will enjoy for many years, as well as, providing a suitable environment for all of the enriching activities that their Forest School sessions will bring.
Area manager of Footsteps Nurseries and Preschools, Kelly Carter, said: “We are so grateful to SAE for the wonderful opportunity they have provided for both the current children and the next generations of children who will enjoy all the trees as part of our commitment to protecting and learning from our outside environment, exercise and healthy eating. We are thrilled that businesses in our community are getting behind our thriving new site at Maple Cross.”
