FIRST IMPRESSIONS: Residents unimpressed with South West Hertfordshire MP’s lack of communication and presence

Published on: 21st April 2020   |   By: Geraint Roberts   |   Category: Uncategorized

Residents of South West Hertfordshire have not been particularly impressed with the lack of communication their MP has shown since his election.

Gagan Mohindra MP was elected to be the new South West Hertfordshire MP back on December 12 after replacing David Gauke, but many residents have not yet received replies to emails that they sent to the new MP as far back as January.

A number of readers gave RickyNews their opinions on Mr Mohindra MP. One said: “I’m not sure anyone actually believes he exists… so good luck.”

Another comment read: “I’ve written six emails to him and apparently is still setting up his office, no answer to my question. Think I would have got a better response from Larry the Downing Street cat. Room for improvement so see how it goes.”

Mr Mohindra MP made his maiden speech in Parliament in March, where he thanked David Gauke for his service, spoke about the constituency and his proudness to represent the area, among other points.

RickmansworthNews spoke with Gagan Mohindra MP and he apologised to constituents after setting up his office took longer than he expected, he said: “I want to start by saying sorry. My priority when I was elected was to get the best people and get the right processes in place for my office so that I could best serve the people of South West Hertfordshire. This took longer than I anticipated.

“Having assembled that team and those processes, we were faced with an unprecedented international pandemic; we have been dealing with over 100 emails a day, many of which pertain to issues of life and death.

“The office is fully functional; we are holding remote surgeries and we are up to date with casework. To contact me please email gagan.mohindra.mp@parliament.uk. My Facebook page (@gaganmohindraMP) Twitter @gaganmohindra.”

Mr Mohindra MP will also be supplying a column for RickmansworthNews from next month.
