A group of young walkers braved the chilly winter air to celebrate 25 years of a local project.
On Thursday, January 9, members of the Chiltern Young Walkers marked 25 years since the group’s first-ever walk. The day before, they commemorated the milestone by retracing the steps of that original walk from Amersham to Great Missenden.
A spokesperson for the group said: “We had an incredible turnout and it was lovely to see so many familiar faces come out and support the group.
“Did you know we were one of the first-ever Ramblers groups aimed at younger hikers? Originally called Chilterns 20s-30s, we rebranded back in 2017 and continue to offer weekly walks in the Chilterns and beyond, run entirely by volunteers.
“We’re so proud of what we do and so grateful to each and every walk leader or volunteer that gives up their free time to help others access the beautiful countryside at our feet. Here’s to the next 25 years!”
