‘SEVERAL DAYS’: Occupants spotted at site of new Lidl in Bedmond

Herts Police have been made aware that land has been occupied off the A41 on the site where a new Lidl supermarket is set to be built.

The old World of Water site on Watford Road appears to be occupied by caravans in photos shared on the Abbots Langley Past & Present Facebook group on Thursday, February 13. Three Rivers District Council (TRDC) has said the site is on private land, and will therefore they will not be able to act.

One comment on the Facebook post said the vehicles had “been here for days”, while another joked “Lidl do they know what’s ahead”.

Documents were signed by Lidl to build a new supermarket on the site in August 2024. The World of Water shop shut on September 30 of the same year. The plan itself was approved in March 2024 by TRDC.
