ANOTHER WIN: Wealdstone beat Altrincham to secure fourth victory in a row

Wealdstone have moved up to third place in the National League table after beating Altrincham 1-0 thanks to a second half winner from Moses Emmanuel.

The goal came almost halfway into the second half allowing Dean Brennan’s side to continue their spectacular start to life in the National League.

The first chance of the game fell to the Stones after Danny Parish, who scored a hat trick last time out against Kings Lynn, but his effort this time was well-saved by the goalkeeper.

Wealdstone thought they were ahead in the 34th minute after Emmanuel tapped home a rebound, but the linesman had his flag up to deny the celebrations.

Altrincham looked a little more dangerous at the start of the second half with Sass-Davies getting his head on the end of a well-delivered corner but the effort went harmlessly wide for the Stones.

On the 64th minute, Wealdstone found the opening goal after they broke away well following an Altrincham chance and after the away side blocked the first two efforts, Emmanuel was at hand at the third time of asking to tap the ball home.

Altrincham will feel they should have equalised in the 75th minute after Hampson cut the ball back to the feet of Peers, but the shot was well blocked.

Wealdstone held on for all three points in the end in a result which sees them move up to third place in the table, albeit with a game in hand over the majority of the sides below them.

The Stones are back in action on Tuesday night, this time it’s an away trip to 19th placed FC Halifax Town.
