The veterans team and youth coaches at Croxley Green FC (CGFC) competed against each other recently as part of a charity fundraising match.
More than 100 supporters, made up of many youth side players, parents and other members of the community, turned out on Saturday, May 13 to show their support.
The game was played to raise money for Winston’s Wish, a charity that helps grieving children come to terms with loss.
In the match, it was the youth team coaches who proved victorious, with their 7-2 being helped out slightly by VAR in the second half. Afterwards, everyone went back to Croxley Community Centre, which organised a charity raffle and food and drinks for attendees.
Club referee and goalkeeping coach Colm Finnegan said: “Croxley Community Centre is a wonderful local venue that CGFC Vets have as their main venue, and they really made everyone welcome.
“It was great to see over 200 people from Croxley celebrating a great charity day and fun day out, as a community we need to make more use of this centre.”
