A Watford pupil has been welcomed as the town’s first Young Green Mayor hoping to initiate positive climate action in the town.
Muhammad Safa Kaya, known as Safa, will now represent young people’s voices across the borough.
Veolia, in partnership with Watford Borough Council, previously invited secondary schools to put forward their nominations for the green initiative.
Safa will be joined by his deputy mayor, Adam Hasan, who were elected for their eco-manifesto and green initiative Plant for Life.
The Plant for Life initiative will see seen the Young Green Mayor and his deputy visit schools to teach students about the importance of plants in an ecosystem.
Elected Mayor of Watford Peter Taylor said: “By spreading information to schools across Watford about the importance of plants for the climate and for increased biodiversity, Safa and Adam will have a huge impact on how we tackle climate change across the town.”
