More than 1,000 incidents of fly tipping have been recorded across Northwood and Ruislip since 2017.

Data revealed in a Freedom of Information request submitted to Hillingdon Council by NORTHWOOD&RUISLIPnews reveals the top five fly tipping hotspots across Northwood, Northwood Hills, Ruislip Manor, South Ruislip and West Ruislip. The data shows that 1,061 fly tipping incidents have been recorded in these areas since 2017.

The area with the highest number of fly tipping incidents was Northwood Hills, with 349 recorded.

Within this area, the road where the most offences took place is Windsor Close, with 110 incidents of fly tipping, accounting for just over 10 per cent of the overall total.

In West Ruislip – the area with the second highest number of fly tipping incidents – the road where there were the most incidents was King Edwards Road with a total of 99 instances.

In Ruislip Manor, the road with the highest recorded number of fly tipping incidents was West End Road with 77 instances. In South Ruislip, this was Diamond Road with 43, and in Northwood, it was Green Lane with 27.

In Hillingdon, a fixed penalty notice of £400 is issued to anyone caught carrying out low-level fly tipping. The council will then issue a notice requiring the owner or occupier to remove and properly dispose of the rubbish within 21 days.

However, if this is ignored, punishment can be as severe as a £50,000 fine in magistrates’ court or even a prison sentence of up to five years, in the case of those committing fly tipping on an industrial scale.
