Hertsmere Conservatives have expressed concern about the impact Labour policies are having on local high streets, with many businesses being forced to close.
Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) has recently introduced higher parking charges at Newberries Car Park in Radlett, and changes mean drivers must now pay for parking that was previously free.
As a result, the rising cost of visiting, living and working in the area has become a growing concern for residents and businesses alike.
In a Facebook post, Hertsmere Conservatives said: “Local Conservatives are working hard to protect our high streets.
“We strongly oppose these parking charge increases, which hurt residents and local businesses. We have actively campaigned to keep one hour of free parking, but the council refused to listen.
“We remain committed to a vibrant and thriving Radlett High Street, not rising costs that drive customers away.”
A petition has now been launched, allowing residents to share their views on the changes affecting the village. HBC has been contacted for comment.
