An Apsley man has been bringing music to the Grand Union Canal by the Marina, much to the delight of nearby residents.
Bav, a resident of the lock, has been coming down to the canal twice a week for the past few months.
He brings with him is his trusty handpan, a small bronze version of a steel drum that he plays in his lap with his hands. He plays this instrument while meditating, helping him to clear his mind.
Bav says that though he is doing this mostly for his own benefit, he has had positive reactions from many residents walking past, with some even sitting and joining in with him in a meditative session.
Speaking to Kings News, Bav said: “I’ve tuned the instrument to a different frequency; it’s a love frequency. It’s all about love, compassion, empathy, everything that we need in this world.
“Meditation is so good for you. We’ve got so much stuff in our faces constantly these days. This is a reset moment. It helps you just put a perspective on life in general.”
