UPDATE: Residents back Three Rivers District Council’s revised Local Plan

Published on: 19th February 2024   |   By: Darius Morgan   |   Category: Uncategorized

The community has shown support for Three Rivers District Council’s (TRDC) revised Local Plan.

TRDC rejected the government’s housing target of 11,466 new homes and put forward a radically reduced plan for 4,852 new dwellings to be introduced over 18 years.

With the last responses to a public consultation, which was conducted in December, on the new plan still being counted, Three Rivers Deputy Leader and Local Plan lead councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst has revealed that almost 90 per cent of residents have shown support.

Cllr Giles-Medhurst said: “The consultation shows very strong support for the council’s approach and indeed support for sites we have suggested for limited new development over the next 18 years and as well as rejecting others that would in our view harm the green belt. It should be noted that the consultation is not a vote, and the volume of support or objections will be weighed up against other planning matters by a government-appointed inspector at a public inquiry to whom we must present the final plan for approval.

“We are now pushing ahead with a shortened time scale to get the final plan, along with the numerous supporting documents, submitted early next year.”
