REVEALED: Data shows number of arrests for drug dealing in Bushey over four years

New data from Herts Police has revealed the number of arrests made for drug dealing since the beginning of 2018 in Bushey, the wider Hertsmere area, and a number of other places in Southwest Hertfordshire.

In a Freedom of Information request to the force, it was revealed that between January 2018 and December 2022, there were 31 arrests for drug dealing in Bushey.

This figure is relatively low compared to nearby Watford, where there were a total of 380 arrests within the same time period, and Hemel Hempstead, where there were 207 arrests.

However, in Radlett, only six arrests were made.

Herts Police Detective Superintendent Nev Hanks, said: “We continue to target offenders that are involved in the drug supply networks in the county. Those involved often set up operations in the homes of vulnerable people and bring violence, drugs and crime to local communities. Young and vulnerable people are often the ones who suffer the most, being drawn into criminal activities, drugs and even sexual exploitation.

“We have made a significant impact on drug dealing in Hertfordshire over the last year, making hundreds of arrests, causing significant disruption to gang activities, and seizing large quantities of drugs and cash. We continue to work with partners to raise awareness of the risks of getting involved in drug and gang activity among young people, parents, teachers and other members of the community to help protect the vulnerable and prevent them from being pulled into this kind of activity.”
