There aren’t many villages that can claim to have their very own pro wrestling champion, but thanks to El Jantonio, Kings Langley can now do just this!
After a tense weekend of competing, Joe Le’Vin aka El Jantonio (pictured second from left) secured his first championship win on Sunday, December 15, and was named the Ultimate Sacrifice Champion.
This wasn’t El Jantonio’s first win of the month, as the day before he was joined by another Kings Langley resident to compete in the 30-man Square One Christmas rumble.
With knuckles up, Shivoa (Woody Umney) made his debut appearance alongside El Jantonio.
Hosted by Ultimate British Wrestling, the show brought together the two former Kings Langley School students as they went head-to-head with some of Britain’s most notorious grapplers.
Having loved wrestling since he was a child, El Jantonio first took up the “comedy luchador” character at the Ultimate British Wrestling Championships in 2022.
It wasn’t long before Shivoa reached out for some advice and El Jantonio took him under his wing.
Sadly for Shivoa, the newbie was eliminated by the legendary Memes (Tom Anstey) shortly after entering the rumble.
El Jantonio did get payback for his friend, however, at Sacrifice Pro Wrestling in Bedford the next day.
The wrestler defeated Memes in the main event to become the Ultimate Sacrifice Champion.
Sacrifice Pro Wrestling called it “a truly beautiful moment for fans and the locker room”.
With El Jantonio and Shivoa both making their mark in the pro-wrestling world, El Jantonio shared his advice for anyone else keen to claim their moment of glory in the ring.
Speaking to KINGSnews, he said: “What we do isn’t fake. We are trained professionals and take real risks. Just because it’s pre-determined doesn’t mean it’s ‘fake’. I think it’s one of those things more people should take a chance on.
“Lots look at is like a combat sport, like UFC. It’s not that. You should look at it as pantomime and as entertainment. When you take that perspective, I feel you can let yourself get invested and enjoy it.”
