A humble shop in Hemel Hempstead has proven that when the community rallies together, amazing things can happen.
Last month, One Shop Highfield and Post Office revealed on its Facebook page that it had been collecting items to brighten up the Christmas season for young children in hospital.
A spokesperson for the shop said: “We have managed to provide Starfish Ward at Watford General Hospital (WGH) with over £550 worth of stationery and arts and crafts to keep their little fingers entertained.
“We praise those who go unnoticed, and those who work tirelessly to make a difference to a child and their family, because the rest of the world doesn’t see it.”
But the generosity doesn’t end there, as the shop also sent 100 selection boxes to WGH and 100 selection boxes to Great Ormond Street Hospital.
The post was met with more than 300 likes and comments from residents, praising the project.
