A Hemel Hempstead basketball team has entered the new year top of the league after a streak of impressive wins.
Hemel Storm, who play in NBL Division One, have won all 10 of their league fixtures this season, including against title challengers Worthing Thunder on December 10. This could prove pivotal in the season as both teams had 100 per cent records going into the game, which Hemel won 100-95.
In a thrilling back-and-forth contest which saw both teams leading by game-high margins of 11, Storm came out on top with an excellent display in the last few minutes to silence the home crowd.
This win was followed by a 116-84 success against Team Newcastle University on December 17, in what was the final home game of the year.
Hemel Storm’s upcoming matches are against Team Solent Kestrels on January 7, Bradford Dragons on January 14, and London Lions II on January 21.
