TOWN PRIDE: Litter pickers come together to clean up Abbots Langley

Published on: 9th May 2023   |   By: Megan Milstead   |   Category: Uncategorized

Community group Abbots in Transition hosted a litter pick last month.

Three volunteers got together on April 22 to clean up the village with the aim of benefiting residents and wildlife.

The litter pickers met at 10am at The Compasses pub before making their way to The Woodlands Café in Leavesden Country Park.

Volunteer Sarah Burgess said: “We managed to make a big difference, even just the three of us. It went really well. We met at The Compasses and went through the houses and Leavesden Country Park. We picked up at least six bags of litter, from cushion covers to half a roll of artificial grass.

“At one point, Joyce and I went into a farmer’s field and found a roller skate and a deflated leather football. We found stuff that had been there for decades. We picked up tonnes of stuff and hopefully it will be a little bit cleaner for a little bit longer.”

To find out about the group’s upcoming events and to suggest a future litter picking location, please visit the Abbots in Transition website.
