An Oxhey-based football hosted a special Remembrance football match last month, featuring a special appearance from the Coldstream Guards.
The Oxhey Jets, based at The Boundary Stadium, hosted the special remembrance game and service on November 5, including a friendly match, wreath laying service and two-minutes silence.
Around 300 people turned out to support the special match which honoured all those who have lost their lives in war, and particularly Private Thomas Lake, from Northwood, who was killed in action while patrolling the Jamal Kowi area of the Nahr-e Saraj district of central Helmand in November 2011.
A spokesperson for the club said: “We were so honoured to have the HMK Coldstream Guards join us for this year’s poppy match in memory of our own fallen Tom Lake, for the Garry Beadle Memorial Trophy.
“What a day, thank you South Oxhey for the support.”
