Published on: 28th November 2022   |   By: Nik Allen   |   Category: Uncategorized

The Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt, Chancellor of the Exchequer visited St Albans on November 24.

The Chancellor came at the invitation of the Chairman of St Albans Conservative Association, Frances Leonard to speak at the association’s annual dinner held at the St Michaels Mount Hotel. Mr Hunt spoke about how his plans to lower inflation and support the most vulnerable will help people across St Albans.

Clare De Silva, Conservative Parliamentary Spokeswoman for St Albans, said: “It was a real privilege to welcome the Chancellor to St Albans and discuss some of the issues that constituents have been raising with me on the doorstep. Before the dinner we were able to find some time to talk about the Autumn Statement, my plan for St Albans and how we can ensure that the voices of local people are more fully heard in Westminster.

“During the meal he spoke to local activists about some of the detail in his Autumn Statement, taking the time to answer questions from the floor. He reassured people that he was committed to lowering inflation, probably the single most effective way of ensuring that everyone’s money goes further. He was also keen to stress how much support he was offering to the most vulnerable, even in the most challenging of times.

“At a time when international financial pressures and the war in Ukraine is causing market upheaval across the world, it was very encouraging that the Chancellor was still able to take time out of his busy schedule to meet with myself and the local team in St Albans.”
