TOP MARKS: Students at St Albans school celebrate ‘outstanding’ A Level success

St Albans School is celebrating the success of its Year 13 cohort today (Thursday, August 14), as many arrived in school this morning to receive their much-anticipated A-Level results.

The School announced that a quarter of all results achieved were grade A*, whilst an impressive 86 per cent of all results were graded A* to B.

A talented 44 per cent of students at St Albans School have achieved at least one A* grade across all of their subjects.

One such student is Leo, who achieved an amazing five A* grades across all of his subjects; he will go on to read Computer Science this September at The University of Manchester.

Other stand-out students were Freddie (4 A*), who will read Mathematics at The University of Cambridge in September, and Alex (4 A*) who will embark on a degree in Aerospace Engineering at The University of Bath this academic year.

Oxbridge successes include twin siblings, Ben and Chris, who are heading to The University of Cambridge to read Architecture, and Oxford, to read Mathematics and Philosophy respectively.

Another bright student, Edward, has secured his place at Oxford to read Politics, Philosophy and Economics, while Pip will read English Literature at The University of Durham and Jenny will study Politics and International Relations at The University of Manchester.

St Albans School also shared they are bidding farewell to a total of 10 Year 13 medics heading to university this September including Maya, who will be heading to The University of Birmingham to study Medicine.

In addition to this, many other students have secured places at top universities in the in the UK and overseas, including The University of Bath, Bristol, Durham, Exeter, Loughborough, Leeds, Nottingham and Warwick.

As well as following the traditional university pathways, some students have opted for a degree apprenticeship in order to obtain their degree while gaining valuable industry experience, one such student is Mateen, who moves onto a degree apprenticeship with JP Morgan in September.

Joe Silvester, headmaster at St Albans School said: “I’m so delighted for our Year 13 students, they have shown great resilience, courage and focus over recent months and they’ve met every challenge with passion and determination.

“This year we have seen our students excel in their A-Level results, with many achieving the highest possible grades. Now is the time to celebrate that milestone as they look forward to the next stage of their journey; on behalf of the School, we wish them every success for the future.”
