A community group founded by a two-time heavyweight boxing and Olympic champion is launching free boxing classes at the Meriden Centre.
Clean Herts Community (CIC), which was founded by former Watford resident Anthony Joshua OBE, has announced it will be launching free boxing classes for the local community.
Classes for both children and adults will begin at the Meriden Centre on Monday, June 24, and will run weekly for a year. Staffed by coaches from Finchley ABC, the classes are designed to help residents get fit while also providing the opportunity to meet new people and strengthen community bonds.
Nikita Joshua, CIC project leader and Anthony’s sister, said: “It was important to us to give young people something to do on Friday evenings to stop them from potentially choosing the wrong path in life, but also for adults to have the opportunity to be able to enjoy a sport with no boundaries.
“We feel extremely grateful that Anthony as our founder shares this same passion with us and we’re able to spread such joy within our community through boxing.”
