Cheers and celebrations rang out for Audrey Stern, a longstanding resident of the Chorleywood private retirement community Cedars Village, on her 100th birthday. Members of Audrey’s family, along with more than 100 Cedars residents, held a special lunchtime buffet to honour this happy occasion in the retirement village’s packed-out ballroom and conservatory. Cedars’ manager Colin Foulger presented Audrey with a bunch of flowers on behalf of all the staff. This was followed by speeches from Audrey’s son and Ralph Maddox, chairman of the village’s residents’ association. Then Audrey was presented with a beautiful watercolour, painted by a fellow resident, of the view from her own windows – Cedars Mansion House, which forms the centrepiece of the village. Hear more on this story, and others, in the September edition of My Chorleywood & Loudwater News, which will be distributed on August 26.
