Time to start preparing for the Tough Ten

Published on: 23rd April 2019   |   By: News Desk   |   Category: Uncategorized

The popular Abbots Langley Tough Ten is now taking entries for its 37th race through the village.

Since 1982 runners from far and wide have taken part in this iconic event and you can join in by taking part and raising money for local beneficiaries.

Runners will once again be able to take part in a 10k, 5k, 3k and park run. Medals will be awarded to all finishers and race times will be chipped by race organisers Nice Work.

The start/finish line will be Manor House Grounds on Gallows Hill Lane where toilets, refreshments and onsite parking will be available.

Entry is limited to 500 runners. Entry is available on the day depending on numbers. Prices are £25 for 10k, £12 for 5k, £5 for 3k and £3 for the park run. If you are affiliated with a UK athletics registered club prices are £20 and £10 for the 10k and 5k.

Entry forms are available to download from nice-work.org/races/ALTT/2019 You can also sign up online via the website.

This year committee member Pat Waterton will be collecting entries from school and club teams.

She said: “I will take entries from school and club teams from a spreadsheet and they can pay me direct, but the team entries will have to be with me no later than the September 30 for this year’s races.

“We will be trying to reinvigorate the competition between senior schools as well this year. We will be reminding schools how easy it is to raise money by entering teams and gathering in sponsorship monies, which are then split 50/50 between the race and their team.

“We know schools are in need of money to help fund World Challenges and Duke of Edinburgh Awards schemes and this seems a perfect way for them to supplement their funds.”

Postal entries must be sent to: ALTT, Nice Work, Teviot, Malthouse Lane, Peasmarsh, East Sussex TN31 6TA.
