An appeal has been launched to raise £4,000 to install some new pieces of children’s play and educational equipment at a playground in Pinner.
The campaign is being run by the Friends of Pinner Village Gardens, a group set up to ensure that Pinner Village Gardens remained accessible and to give park users and local residents a say on its future development. The group has already had some notable successes.
Antonia Saviddes from the group explained what they hoped to achieve.
She commented: “Currently, the children’s playground is in a poor condition due to several years of semi-neglect. It is under-utilised by local families due to the limited facilities and it’s rather run down appearance.
“We began this project by asking local residents, families and park users what they wanted to see in the playground. We are now working with Harrow council and playground equipment suppliers to plan then purchase new equipment to attract children of all ages and invigorate the playground area and make it an enjoyable and safe environment.”
Antonia said the group feels that improvements to the playground will attract more families to the park in general, encouraging the use of the wider park itself.
She added: “This is a well planned and unique park which appeals to many difference users and their different activities. The park was created as a pleasure park in the 1930’s and includes green nature areas, a wildlife pond, new adult outdoor fitness equipment, a climbing rock, a table tennis table and basketball area and new improved tennis courts.”
