TESTING TESTING: Gerrards Cross school’s podcast project proves a success

A school in Gerrards Cross has recently launched its very own podcast.

Independent girls’ prep school Maltman’s Green has released several episodes of the podcast, which sees two Year 6 pupils interview girls within the school on various issues, projects and day-to-day life at the school.

Head girl Hollie and deputy head girl Navneet have been the most recent hosts of the show, interviewing girls in Year 3 about the transition from the lower school to the upper school.

The girls said: “It’s been a really good way to get to know people and bridge the gap between the years. It’s been really fun.

“We hope it carries on after we leave for secondary school, and the next head girls can take over.”

One of the Year 3 girls said: “I really like having our voices heard.”

The idea for the podcast came from the head of marketing at Maltman’s Green, Lisa Gill.

She said: “It’s been really successful. I let the girls take charge and they run it themselves.

“It’s their voices being heard and they’re learning real-life skills in communication, marketing and how to present themselves.”

On July 3, the school was shortlisted for Independent Prep School of the Year at the 2023 Independent Schools of the Year Awards.

The podcast can be listened to on Spotify here.
