The Croxley Green History Project (CGHP) has announced that prints of a much-loved history map of the village are now available for the first time in 30 years.
In 1993, Croxley Green Parish Council commissioned a detailed map of the village, with beautiful illustrations and text describing its history.
It was painted by local artists Daphne Simmons and June Thomas, with research and calligraphy by librarian Norma Stubbington. The original watercolour still hangs in the parish council’s office.
Prints of the map became extremely popular, selling more than 2,000 copies in just 10 months, and its style was later copied by hundreds of other parish councils across the country.
Prints of the map can be collected from the parish council offices on Community Way, with the only cost being a donation to the council’s chosen charity of the year.
CGHP is also encouraging people to take part in a Boundary Walk during the summer holidays, a 6.3-mile trek around the historic borders of the village that takes in such sights as the Common Moor, Croxley Hall Farm, the Grand Union Canal, and Dickinson’s Mill.
