A Ruislip resident joined thousands of other cyclists for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) London to Brighton bike ride last month.
The BHF is a charity close to Emily McCarthy’s heart. Each year, the BHF funds around £100million of research into all heart and circulatory diseases and the things that cause them.
After the 54-mile city to coast ride on June 16, Emily said she was overwhelmed with a “euphoric feeling of accomplishment” and expressed her delight with the £365 she had raised.
She said: “I am so impressed by the amount raised for the BHF. Thank you so much to those who donated. I even surprised myself to see how well I overcame the physical and mental challenges that came my way throughout this journey.
“Learning not to doubt myself, setting myself weekly goals and sticking to them despite having a busy time of year, I couldn’t be happier with the end result.”
The thousands of riders have helped to raise £328,191 at the time of writing.
