SPECIAL SEASON: ‘Full of life’ Abbots Langley Carnival returns

Published on: 15th June 2026   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Featured

The Abbots Langley Carnival didn’t fail to impress on Saturday, June 13, with sunshine, stalls, and a buzzing atmosphere across the whole event.

This year’s theme for the procession was Great British inventors and their inventions, with all costumes recycled, while a magician – who joins each year to create illusion and excitement for the children – returned to the arena at Manor House Grounds.

At the tail end of another successful carnival, Watford Lions Club President and chair of the Carnival Committee Ash Panchal highlighted what makes the annual event so special for the people of the village.

He said: “The people and community of Abbots Langley make this carnival so special. It’s just so vibrant.

“It’s full of life, full of all generations, from all the little ones all the way up to the grandparents, it’s fantastic. We’ve got a procession, we’ve got events going on at the arena and we’ve got a load of stallholders who come every year who are just here to help and serve the community.

“I can’t say the procession’s the best and not the stalls, and not the stalls and not the arena. For me, the best part is seeing everyone together. It really is. I can’t put it better than that.”

Abbots News reporter Callum Milne and fellow design colleague Rebecka Sheridan shared many instructive conversations with residents and members of the community, and received positive feedback about the magazine, as well as new ways to help the content evolve in future editions.

Callum said: “Being able to put faces to voices and meet so many of the people of Abbots Langley was very special, and I can’t wait to keep the connections growing inside the community.

“Hearing fresh story ideas is always welcome. Keep them coming!”

The carnival wasn’t short of entertainment, with funfair rides, a dance area for children to get involved in, and plenty of games stalls to win different prizes.

Irresistible hot food lined the grounds’ scent, while alcoholic beverages were available for adults in attendance.

1st Abbots Langley Scout Group was also in attendance, as chairman Dave Gray unravelled his summary of the day’s events.

He said: “It’s been really good actually, it’s been a good atmosphere, loads of people, nice weather obviously.

“We had a lot of items to sell, and we’ve sold most of them, so we’ve raised a few funds today as well. It’s been good catching up with everyone. Nice to see Abbots News here as well!”
