The trial of a man accused of murdering a 32-year-old man has concluded with a guilty verdict at St Albans Crown Court.
Jeyanthan Ramachanthran was stabbed outside Vu Lounge in Bushey on November 29 of last year. Emergency services attended the scene, and Mr Ramachanthran was taken to hospital in a critical condition. Despite the efforts of hospital staff, he later died from his injuries on the same night.
Dequarn Williams, who was 25 at the time of his arrest, appeared before St Albans Crown Court on June 1 for the start of his murder trial. Williams was arrested on Sunday 30th November on suspicion of murder after he left the scene of the crime prior to police arrival.
Detective Inspector Lee Martin, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit said “I know this incident will have caused significant concern among the local community.”
The court heard that after an initial altercation at the popular venue during the evening of November 29, Ramachanthran was later attacked outside. Vu Lounge and other businesses around the site, including Bushey Driving Range, were closed for multiple days afterwards to support police with their enquiries and the gathering of evidence.
A women in her 30s was arrested on 1st of December on suspicion of assisting an offender but following an investigation she was released with no further action.
The trial finished was set to conclude on June 19 but the Jury came back with a guilty verdict for Mr Williams on Wednesday 17th June.

Sentencing for Mr Williams will take place on Monday 22nd June.
