Hemel Hempstead South-East councillor Jan Maddern has given a grant to a horticultural project.

Cllr Maddern has given a grant of £750 to Sunnyside Rural Trust (SRT) to purchase new accessible gardening tools, helping the charity to continue offering therapeutic activities to young people and adults with learning disabilities.

These activities promote teamwork, foster new friendships, and offer physical exercise in a natural environment, all of which have been proven to enhance mental wellbeing.

Cllr Maddern said: “It is my absolute pleasure to support this wonderful local charity, that enables adults with learning difficulties to grow flowers and food, both to sell and as a life skill, and I would urge members of the public to visit their café and food gardens.”

This is part of Funds contributed from Hertfordshire County Council’s vision to help make the area cleaner, greener and healthier.
