Kings Langley Community Library will be closed for at least two months to enable vital work to be carried out.
The library will shut its doors to residents on Monday, January 29.
On advice from the Library Service, the decision was made to enable contractors to replace the building’s roof.
A spokesperson for the library said: “The earliest it will reopen will be Monday, March 25, although this will be subject to weather and availability of supplies.
“Updates will be posted on the village noticeboard in the High Street and on the library Facebook page.”
They also stated that there will be absolutely no access to the building during this construction phase, including for those who wish to return books via the letterbox.
Any items on loan and due back after the work commences will be extended until Sunday, April 21.
For now, the nearest library to the village is on Abbots Langley High Street.
