Victoria Collins, MP for Harpenden and Berkhamsted, is urging residents to shop local, as rising costs could lead to the closure of high street businesses.
The MP, whose constituency also includes Tring, is backing the nationwide campaign run by Small Business Britain to showcase the success of small businesses and encourage people to “shop local”.
She said: “Whether it’s our local shops, hair salons, independent grocers or cafés, small businesses are at the heart of our high street and community here in Harpenden, Berkhamsted, Tring and our villages.
“We need to do all we can to keep them going. That’s why I’m urging everyone to get out and about and support local businesses.
“Small businesses have faced blow after blow – whether that’s soaring input prices, energy bills, high costs from an unfair business rates system and now the government hiking up taxes. It’s more important than ever that we show our support for them, and shop local.”
