A teenager trekked 45km across the Yorkshire Moors in October to raise money for the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (RNOH) in Stanmore.
Harrison Gallagher, 16, completed the journey as a practice expedition for his silver Duke of Edinburgh award and raised £500 for the hospital.
Harrison previously underwent surgery at RNOH after he was diagnosed with scoliosis.
He told the RNOH: “I was first diagnosed with scoliosis, a severe curvature of my spine, in November 2022. A year later, I had two major spinal surgeries, which involved fusing my spine and a lengthy hospital stay at RNOH. I am still recovering from this operation but, whilst there are still many restrictions, I am regaining strength.
“I wanted to use this opportunity to raise funds for the RNOH NHS Trust to help other children and teenagers like me with scoliosis.”
A post on the RNOH Charity’s Facebook page said: “A big thank you to 16-year-old Harrison Gallagher who recently completed a 45km hike across the Yorkshire Moors, raising a fantastic £500!”
