A 59-year-old Watford man has been charged in connection with alleged stalking and sexual assault offences.
Grahame Steuart, of Garsmouth Way, appeared before Hatfield Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 16, charged with stalking involving serious alarm/distress, two counts of sexual assault on a female aged 13 and over, criminal damage to a vehicle and the use of threatening/abusive words/behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
He was remanded into custody and is next due to appear before St Albans Magistrates’ Court on Monday, January 23.
The stalking charges relate to two incidents which occurred in the town in December 2022 and January 2023 and involved a teenage girl aged under 18.
The sexual assault charges relate to two separate incidents, involving two further female victims, which were also reported to have occurred in December 2022 and January 2023.
Detective Sergeant Joel Gill said: “Tackling violence against women and girls is of great importance to us and I hope this arrest provides reassurance to the local community. We take reports of stalking and harassment very seriously. If you experience unwanted behaviour, please report it to the police.”
