A Bushey resident has been crowned as the BBC’s Sound of 2023 as part of a girl group.
Resident Jorja Douglas, together with Stella Quaresma and Renée Downer of the music group FLO, received the accolade earlier this month, which showcases the best up-and-coming musicians as voted for by music industry experts.
FLO, who have more than 3.2 million monthly listeners on Spotify, also recently won the BRITs Rising Star Award.
Taking to social media, the group said: “We are the BBC Radio 1 Sound of 2023 winners! This is an incredible start to our year, and we can’t wait to continue to release music and accomplish more goals! Thank you to everyone who made this possible.”
Jorja also previously performed at Bushey Festival in 2018 and 2019.
A spokesperson for the festival said: “Look at her now! We are so proud of her success.”
The trio recently featured with Stormzy on the new Hide & Seek remix released last month.
Previous winners of the BBC Sound accolade include Adele, Sam Smith and Haim.
The group also recently won the Rising Star BRIT Award (pictured).
