Rickmansworth Golf Course has reopened to the general public, after being closed for almost nine weeks due to Covid-19.

The golf club, located on Moor Lane, began welcoming back its loyal customers on Tuesday, May 19, after closing on Friday, March 20 following Government instruction.

Its reopening follows the announcement from Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday  May 10), which confirmed golf courses are free to open, with social distancing measures in place.

Everyone Active – the sports and leisure operator who manages the course in partnership with Three Rivers District Council – has implemented strict procedures to ensure social distancing on and around the course, along with removing certain equipment to avoid the touching of surfaces. Full detail of these measures can be found here.

John Sewell, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said: “We’ve been looking forward to reopening the course and welcoming back our loyal members and have been overwhelmed by the support we have received from customers and Three Rivers District Council during these unprecedented times.

“Ensuring our colleagues and customers remain safe is our number one priority and we have carefully considered the strict measurements to ensure we adhere to the guidance. We cannot stress enough that, whilst the course has now reopened, it is incredibly important that we all remain vigilant and considerate of our fellow players. We look forward to welcoming everyone back and thanking them for their patience.”

Cllr Chris Lloyd, Lead Member for Leisure, Environment, and Community at Three Rivers District Council, added: I am pleased that Rickmansworth Golf Course can reopen with social distancing measures in place. This will allow residents of Three Rivers the opportunity to get out for some fresh air, exercise, and help with their wellbeing. I reiterate the sentiments of John and Everyone Active and ask that everyone using the golf course remember to stay alert to control the virus and save lives.”
