More than 1,200 runners descended upon the town last month to take part in the annual Berkhamsted Half Marathon.

The event, which is organised by Berkhamsted Rotary Club (BRC) and also features a five-mile fun run, took place on Sunday, March 3. A total of 952 people took part in the half marathon, and another 485 raced in the fun run.

In the half marathon, Heather Hann of the St Albans Striders achieved the fastest time in the women’s category (01.24.06), while Justin Davis achieved the fastest time in the men’s category (01.13.12).

The prizes were handed out by local athlete Zoë Doyle, who recently hit the headlines after breaking a world record as part of a relay group.

Rollo Prendergast of the BRC said: “This was a very popular race run by the local Rotary Club. The organising team should be proud of themselves for putting on a flawless race.

“English Athletics, who adjudicate such events, reported on ‘the excellence [of the] organisation in general and the marshalling and first aid provision in particular’.”
