Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a road traffic collision on the M1 this week (Monday, April 1), during which two people sadly died.
The incident occurred on the southbound carriageway between Junctions 6 and 5 (near Watford) at around 8.10pm.
For reasons unknown at this time, a silver Range Rover left the road and came to rest among some trees.
Five people were travelling in the vehicle at the time.
Two people, a man aged in his 50s and an 18-year-old woman, sadly passed away at the scene.
The other three occupants, a woman aged in her 30s, a 10-year-old girl and an eight-year-old boy, sustained serious injuries and remain in hospital.
Sergeant Stephanie Corletto, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with all those affected at this extremely sad and difficult time.
“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the collision. As part of this, we need to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, or events prior to it, and hasn’t yet spoken to police.
“We’d be particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have captured dashcam footage of the incident itself, or of the vehicle travelling in the area prior to it.
“If you have any information at all, please get in contact. Thank you.”
