RAISE A GLASS: Radlett café looks forward to a bright future after alcohol licence approved

Published on: 26th August 2025   |   By: The Newsdesk   |   Category: Uncategorized

A popular café in Radlett is “looking forward to the future” after being granted an alcohol licence.

Phillies, in Phillimore Recreation Ground, first opened its doors in October last year.

Following a hearing on Tuesday, July 15, the café can now serve alcohol after Hertsmere Borough Council granted their request for a licence.

Phillies follows in the footsteps of its sister café, Café in the Orchard in Shenley Park, which has been operating for the past 14 years.

Alex Black from Phillies told Radlettnews: “We currently serve alcohol at Café in the Orchard, and it has been requested by some of our customers at Phillies — particularly older customers whose main meal is lunch — whether we offer wine or beer to enjoy with their meal. While we had always considered offering alcohol, it was these customer requests that led us to make the application.

“Alcohol will be available to enjoy with a meal during the café’s operating hours.

“Over the past 10 months, we’ve really enjoyed becoming part of the Radlett community. The people of Radlett have been welcoming and extremely supportive, and we’re looking forward to the future.”
