Harrow Council has introduced a new genius invention: a sustainable duck feeder in Pinner Memorial Park that will also help to support the local community.
The duck feeder is solar-powered and made from 100 per cent recycled plastics. For just £1, visitors can obtain a handful of feed to treat the ducks, with 10 per cent of proceeds going to community volunteer groups in the area.
Not only that, but the feeder is intended to discourage the harmful practice of feeding bread to the birds, which can cause them harm and pollute the water.
A spokesperson for Harrow Council said: “We’re taking part in the Feed Ducks initiative. This allows visitors to feed ducks sustainably and helps reduce the environmentally damaging consequences of bread feeding to wildfowl and their habitat.
“It’s also solar powered, contactless, made from 100 per cent recycled plastics, and 10 per cent of proceeds are donated back into community volunteer groups.”
