Watford are just two points outside the Premier League top four this afternoon after Javi Gracia’s men ran out comfortable winners against Huddersfield at Vicarage Road.
Although the visitors started confidently, Watford were in front after ten minutes when Roberto Pererya picked the ball up on the left flank, dribbled past several Huddersfield players and then slotted home to continue his fine form.
Less than ten minutes later, Watford doubled their lead when Spaniard Gerard Deulofeu cut in from the right and then drilled a shot in at the near post.
Watford didn’t have it all their own way however and keeper Ben Foster touched a long-range strike from Chris Loewe. Deulofeu almost made it 3-0 shortly after when his shot clipped the post.
The visitors kept creating chances in the second half, but Watford wrapped up the win late on after Isaac Success was teed up by Kiko Femenia.
Fans took to social media after the game to praise the team’s performance.
Steve Helfet tweeted: “Nearly half-way to safety after ten games. What’s going on, Watford?! Great that we’ve got a squad not just a team now. And those first two goals… #wow #watfordfc “
Andrew Reynolds was equally enthusiastic.
He wrote: “Another great afternoon at the Vic! Apart from the 80s team which I wasn’t around to witness, this has to be the best @WatfordFC team assembled in history. A joy to watch #COYH”
