Two Berkhamsted dog trainers braved BBC’s Dragons’ Den in the hope of getting a £70,000 investment in their business.
Jamie (pictured) and Gemma Pound own UK Sniffer Dogs, a company that teaches dog trainers and owners how to train pet dogs for scent detection and tracking through online and practical courses.
The pair entered the den in an episode which aired on May 20, asking the dragons for £70,000 in exchange for 15 per cent of their business.
The dragons were charmed by the couples’ presentation, which involved one of the business’ trainers and their dog acting out an exercise.
Jamie also shared his emotional past with the dragons. He became a dog trainer after an accident at work 11 years ago, where he was set on fire by an electrical explosion which left him with 45 per cent burns.
After much deliberation, the dragons all decided to opt out of investing, despite giving the Pounds great feedback.
Jamie and Gemma were in good spirits as they left the den, with Gemma concluding: “We’re going to carry on doing what we do best. We got this far on our own.”
The episode is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
