Bike marking events were held at four different locations in Bushey on Saturday, May 22.
In total, 32 bicycles were security marked during the free events, held at King George Recreational Ground, Moatfield Park, Bushey Grove Leisure Centre and the car park opposite St Peter’s Hall in Bushey Heath.
Organiser PCSO Esther Ainsley said: “The bicycles were marked using a laminated, tamper resistant label with a unique QR Code. It is linked to the owner’s details which are registered on the BikeRegister National Cycle Database.
“This acts as a deterrent to thieves and should the bike be stolen it can be easily reunited with the rightful owner if recovered.
“If you weren’t able to attend on Saturday but would still like to get your bike security marked, we will be advertising future event via OWL – Online Watch Link – Neighbourhood Watch – Home and our Facebook and Twitter accounts (both @HertsmerePolice).”
Police Community Support Officers also gave crime prevention advice and shared information about Neighbourhood Watch and Echo – the constabulary’s community voice platform.
You can use echo to let the police know what you think they should be prioritising in your area.
All feedback is regularly reviewed and will help towards shaping our local policing priorities, initiatives and campaigns.
You do not need to provide any personal information, and all feedback is completely anonymous – though please try to be as specific as possible if you are referring to certain areas or streets.
