Local DJ creates his own record label

A DJ who went to school in Croxley Green is releasing new music after creating his own record label.

Maximus Stephanos, who went to York House School, released his new track Don’t Stop on Wednesday, July 26.

He created his independent record label House 559 Music after he returned from playing at festivals around the world and wanted to focus on developing the business side of his music.

Maximus now has the power to release his own music without having to send out countless demos to producers.

He said: “Being able to release my own music is a really great and satisfying feeling. Sometimes when you are sending out countless demos to numerous labels and you don’t get a reply it can start to make you feel a bit down or doubt yourself.

“By finding an independent way to distribute your music, if you truly believe in it, you can now put it on various platforms and see how it does for yourself.”

Maximus is now able to work with other DJs and artists and promote new music through his label.

He explained: “I’ve got so much more new music that I’m working on however I’m currently in discussions with another DJ and producer who I would really like to sign to the House 559 Music label.

“The track he’s got ready is awesome and I really want to give it the full distribution and promotion opportunities that I think it deserves. I’m also trying to get out of the studio a little more and play more live sets.”

Playing at worldwide festivals has inspired Maximus to keep perusing his dream.

He added: “DJ’ing at Hideout Festival in Croatia recently was a wonderful reminder of how music can make people feel. That interaction with an audience of music fans is the best feeling in the world and so addictive that I just can’t wait to do it again.”
